On December 5, 1828 “Old Hickory” became the President of the United States.* This old dude was like the John Wayne of his day. Reportedly, he wasn’t afraid to fight in duels and even fatally wounded some of his opponents. In spite of that (or maybe because of that) he was elected as our 7th president.
