Q: Retreat planning is time consuming. Does GenerousChurch do most of the work?

A: Yes, simply pick a retreat date and submit an Agreement. You decide who attends, where you want to have your retreat, and who will manage your invitations. GenerousChurch handles everything else. We handle all retreat content, facilitators, scheduling, etc.

Our experienced team works to ensure your leaders have an excellent retreat experience.

Q: How much does an Overflow Experience cost?

A: Thanks to the generosity of our financial partners, nearly all of the costs are already covered. Those interested in our Leadership Retreats only need to cover our travel expenses and the retreat materials.

Q: Are there dates available?

A: Demand for the Overflow Experience is growing. We are training additional facilitators. Contact us to check on available dates.

Q: How do we get started?

A: Simple, start with this Agreement. Once submitted, our team goes into action.

Q: Where do we order retreat materials?

A:  The GenerousChurch Store -

Q: What do we order?

A: Two items: Overflow Experience Participant Guides and Whole-Life Generosity Devotionals. Each person needs their own copy of each.

Q: Who should attend the Overflow Experience?

A: Churches typically invite their pastors, staff, elders, deacons and other key leaders including spouses. Ministries invite executive staff, governing board members, key donors and spouses.

Q: How many leaders can go through the Overflow Experience?

A: It’s best to have all of your leaders go through the Overflow Experience at the same time. Groups of 16–18 people are optimum. Dividing your leaders into multiple groups is often necessary. Remember to keep spouses together. Each group requires their own certified facilitator from GenerousChurch.

Q: Our leaders are busy people, what’s the best way to ensure they attend?

A: We’ve learned that vision, relationship, and follow-up are critically important in convening leaders for any extended gathering. Visionary leaders gather other leaders largely through relationship. Having one or two other leaders also encouraging others to attend is helpful, as well.

Your staff and leaders want to be personally invited to attend a leadership retreat. This is encouraging to them. Set your expectations high and follow through with the invitation and RSVP process. We’ve found that follow-up reminders are necessary for busy leaders.

Q: Does GenerousChurch offer any post-retreat plans?

A: Yes. The Overflow Experience can just be the weekend retreat, or include additional steps. Most leaders choose to include the post-retreat daily devotional, followed by a celebration gathering.

During the month following the Overflow Experience, leaders have time to prayerfully consider the next steps they would like to take with GenerousChurch. In order to better serve you we remain available throughout the post-retreat phase.

Q: In the spirit of generosity, can we cover more than travel expenses and materials?

A: Yes. We have a special fund we call “Pay It Forward” which can be easily found at We don’t have a suggested donation, just prayerfully consider what God is asking you to give.
