GenerousChurch

Our leadership team

GenerousChurch is led by a team of passionate generosity evangelists who are working to unleash generous disciples throughout today's Christian churches and ministries. Here's who we are.  Be sure to contact us so we can get to know you!

  Patrick Johnson,
President and Chief Architect

Patrick is the founder of GenerousChurch and has a passion to see a revolution of whole-life generosity flourish in churches and ministries. Over the last 15 years, he’s partnered with Leadership Network, the Wesleyan Denomination, Converge and other church networks to equip leaders to unleash generous disciples. Leveraging the power of Scripture and story, the products and experiences that he’s created have been used by over 2,000 churches to transform the hearts and minds of Jesus-followers toward generosity as a way of living versus an act of giving.

Currently, Patrick directs the vision of GenerousChurch and lives in Prairie Village, KS with his wife, Jennifer, two of 4 almost-grown children and the GC mascot, Dale.  Patrick's favorite color is ORANGE and his unique skill is that people seem to love him from the moment they meet him.

Sharon Epps
  Sharon Epps,
Executive Vice President and Chief Strategist

Sharon is a Christ-following, fun-loving, strategist, communicator and leader.  She brings order to the systems of GenerousChurch by simplifying complex issues into clear action steps.  A former corporate banker, church stewardship pastor and non-profit executive, Sharon speaks and writes with a mission to help people discover God’s purpose for their life and to use their money to accomplish it.  She’s personally counseled hundreds of individuals and families and co-hosted Crown Financial Ministries’ MoneyLife radio program.

Sharon is married to Joel and lives & worships in the Atlanta, GA area.  They have 4 kids, 5 grandkids and Cavapoo, Finley. Many have been blessed through their hospitality ministry at the "Epps Manor" where "the more people, the better."  We also think she has the best laugh ever!

Ray Zuercher
  Ray Zuercher,
Vice President

Ray’s vocational ministry experience spans three decades within parachurch and pastoral ministries. GenerousChurch benefits from his leadership development experience and years of pastoral understanding as he serves pastors and ministry leaders across the country and internationally.

Ray is an avid outdoorsman and Master Judge with the Kansas City BBQ society. He and his wife Janell reside in Olathe, Kansas. Their home, affectionately called "The Creek", serves as a relaxing refuge where they offer retreat and soul care to others in ministry. They’ve raised three amazing kids to adulthood and are enjoying four grand babies.

Cindy Cheeks
  Cindy Cheeks,
Administration

Cindy came to GC in January, 2012 with a background in client services, administration and marketing. Her non-profit service began in 2005 with a grass roots Katrina relief effort, where she eventually served as Executive Director. She has since worked with non-profit and government agencies in employed and volunteer capacities, helping structure their operations for maximum impact. In service to the clients and team of GC, she mobilizes her passion to see churches, ministries and individuals utilize their resources to positively impact communities for the Kingdom.

Cindy is living her “Happily Ever After” with husband Keith in Rankin County, MS. They enjoy stay-cations at the "Cheeky Casa" with their 6 adult children and Staffy grand-dog, Chico.  She enjoys traveling and supporting the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

    Catherine Muthey,
Intercessor

Catherine has been part of GenerousChurch as Lead Intercessor since 2016, praying for the team and clients daily.  Four years ago she felt the LORD calling her to leave her job in the market to partner with presidents of companies and ministries in the role of personal and corporate intercessor. When she is not traveling for generosity, mentoring or prayer opportunities, Catherine touches the world through intercession from Wichita, Kansas where she lives and worships.

Reach out to Catherine for prayer at Catherine@generouschurch.com.

  James Harvey,

James is Founder/CEO of Blazing Trees, a ministry focused on praying for, encouraging, and equipping mission leaders and teams globally. James grew up in China and the Philippines as a missionary kid and has since traveled to many nations.  James joined our GenerousChurch team in July 2019 as a leader called to pray, encourage, and coach others in how to pray.

  Brad Brestel
Generosity, Lincoln

Brad Brestel lives in Lincoln, Nebraska with his wife Nancy. Brad’s journey in whole-life generosity began with an invitation to a generosity event in 2003. He was hired by his local church to champion the virtue of generosity and his first experience of a generosity event was arranged by Patrick Johnson! When Brad is not leading Overflow Experiences, he enjoys his grandchildren and serving in the local church.

  In Memoriam, Jim Rathbun (1965-2018)
Overflow Experience Facilitator

Jim Rathbun served as a volunteer with Generous Church in the Indianapolis, Indiana area. He had been in full time ministry for over 30 years serving in the local church, Promise Keepers, Wycliffe Bible Translators and Cru.
